The Story of Dewberry Lane
Dewberry Lane Honey has its origins in the mid 1950s outside the small town of Louise, Texas. What started as a hobby for a young boy would grow into a lifelong passion he would later pass on to his son and grandson.
Through decades of beekeeping, facing droughts and floods, we have persevered to take what started with only a few hives, and turn them into the company we have today.
We love bees and are honored to share our passion about these wonderful creatures and their honey with you!
Our honey is bottled by the region where it is made. Our Harris and Liberty County honey is mixed due the similarities in plants. This honey is derived from both native and ornamental plants.
This honey is derived from wild plants such as dewberries, grapes, wildflowers, and tallow trees as well as ornamental trees and shrubs such as crepe myrtles and ligustrums.
We also plant hubam clover, buckwheat, and sunflowers as cover crops for some of our bees which contribute to this special blend.
This is a truly unique honey and tends to be sweeter and lighter in taste, great for using in its raw form, on breads, or for sweetening drinks.
Please Note: We are not currently selling honey directly from our website for individual sale as most of our honey sales are local and direct to consumer. If you would like to purchase our honey, send us an email and we will try to fulfill your order.
Our Wharton County honey has a bolder taste. It is derived from wild plants such as grapes, dewberries, hawthorn, yaupon, and tallow trees.
Additionally, this honey is sourced from crops such as cotton, soybean, and our own sesame field which we plant specifically for our bees. The nectars from these crops are themselves highly desirable for honey producers.
For those who like a bolder tasting honey, or are looking for a honey that is great for baking, this is probably the honey for you!
